Sonnet XVII

Knighted One

Oh, gallant knight residing in my soul,
Thee knows thou art the one my heart adores,
And that there is not one thing I want more,
Than to sit beside thee on a grassy knoll,
And trace along the contours of thy face.
With gentle fingers lovingly I’d touch,
So I could show thee just how very much,
I love thee and appreciate thy grace.

At long last free from all majestic rule,
Away from those about us who’d betray,
A kindness soft and gentle as a dove,
We’ll find a way to share our courtly love,
Appreciate it as a polished jewel,
Perhaps my faithful champion one day.

Sonnet IV

The moment that our hearts so kindly met,
You touched my soul just like a gentle song.
Soft spoken words of yours I can’t forget,
Sweet memory to last a lifetime long.

If I could write for you a single tune,
All dressed in blue reflective shining light,
I’d wrap it in the myst’ry of the moon,
Sung sweetly in the beauty of the night.

If you should ever feel lost or alone,
Please don’t forget that you can count on me.
The angel on your shoulder guide you home,
Because that’s where a friend should always be.

My dear sweet one, for you I’ll always pray.
One candle in the dark, I’ll light your way.

Sonnet XVI

In once upon a time amazing dream,
A vision so surreal and so sublime,
An awe-inspiring moment filled my mind,
Now far away and gone for good it seems,
Envisioning us in our rocking chairs,
Grandchildren bouncing on arthritic knees,
A lilting butterfly on gentle breeze,
Amidst spring’s budding blossoms everywhere.

Perhaps it was just never meant to be,
Our promise for the future couldn’t last,
The distance just too much for you to cope,
We ought to leave the dream back in the past,
And now perhaps you’ve given up all hope,
But my love, how I wish you’d talk to me.

Angelfire

In a field of starlight and magic we walked,
Dreams and fantasies forever at our touch.
The wind rustling in the grass and the wildflowers.
Visions of a reality close enough to grasp,
But hot enough to burn at the touch.

Heaven above could only be as bright,
As our nights in that field of wonder,
The lady who touched his heart with a magical flame,
The guardian angel who protected her with love.

Two souls in a collision of passion,
Two hearts bound by love,
Two bodies consumed by desire,
A never ending connection,
Of heavenly wonderous dreams.

If there is a heaven then it is here,
In this magical realm of wonder,
Where our hearts and our souls collided,
And in the flames of our desire-
We danced together as one.

Tonight I am ready to begin,
My dreams have awakened to the reality,
That we will truly walk together,
In our field of heavenly flame,
Throughout eternity…

Dragonslayer

stgeorge.jpg

A giant dragon breathing fire,
A damsel in fear of woe.
She shies away from breath of flame,
Away from her greatest foe.
She runs…
She hides…

From the shadows steps a man,
A shining suit he wears,
The butt of his sword is made of gold,
His horse has ivory hair.
He is proud…
He is strong…

He steps within the dragon’s path,
He lunges forward, straight and true.
A dagger straight through the heart of the foe,
And the dragon never knew.
He stumbles…
He falls…
A burst of flames he tries to sputter,
But only smoke comes new.
One blow to the throat with a razored edge,
The dragon now is through.
He bleeds…
He dies…

The lady is impressed with the swift demise,
By the knight of her fiery foe.
She smiles at him brightly,
And beyond her smile they suddenly know.
That it’s true…
That it’s real…
The knight walks slowly up to her,
With soot from his head to his toe.
He lifts her to his trusty steed,
And into the sunset they go
Together…
Forever…

Winter Wind

As winter wind it creaks and moans
Whipping o'er the world so cold
As brittle as some ancient bones
This age old story's been foretold

Whipping o'er the world so cold
Spellbound spirits lost in time
As brittle as some ancient bones
Fermented long as vintage wine

Spellbound spirits lost in time
Haunting us, lost in the night
Fermented long as vintage wine
We must bring them into the light

Haunting us, lost in the night
As brittle as some ancient bones
We must bring them into the light
As winter wind it creaks and moans

Sonnet XV

Still waters of thine eyes call out to me,
Tranquility in sapphire pools of light.
As skyward angels illumine the night,
Melodic splendor emanates from thee.
Exquisiteness of oceans won't compare,
And neither will magnificence of skies,
To taunting star of sapphire in thine eyes,
That bares the symphony thy soul doth share.

As waves that pound against a rugged cliff,
Tumultuous my life may sometimes seem.
Thee shelter me and keep me safe and whole,
Beloved, thou art blessed with such a gift.
And when I reach for thee with eyes of dreams,
Thy solace washes softly o'er my soul.

Sonnet XIV

Queen for my king 'twas how I felt with thee.
And next to thine was where my heart belonged.
To turn the tides and do things diff'rently,
Mayhap now we'd sing a different song.

This memory of passion in thine eyes,
It burns me deep down to my very core.
Thy heart, thy hands, thy body calling mine,
My lord, my love, I could not ask for more.

But I could not betray my truest friend,
Who's eyes of longing held thee throughout time,
And though my love which I could not extend,
Was stifled, still thee read between the lines.

And now though twenty years be dead and gone,
Our sweet memory will burn ever on.

Sonnet II

Monotonous distractions of the day,
Can barely ebb the pain within, my heart;
So broken, battered, beaten, torn apart;
Still knows somehow there's got to be a way.
So many things I wish that I could say,
About the love that we've held from the start.
Oh! How this evil like a poison dart,
Has taken from us all for which we pray.

I know not how to reach you now, my love,
To show you just how much there is to see.
As sleepless evening falls your soul draws near;
Mine longs to touch it gentle as a dove,
With hope that I've locked deep inside of me,
The moment days' distractions disappear.

Sonnet I

With careful hands obeying all the rules,
On river bank we build our fine canoe.
Lest we'd be building a mere ship of fools,
To sail upon the dream of me and you.

Questions now we need no longer wrestle.
The moon reflects above us pale and white.
Though the darkness flows beneath our vessel,
We bask in beauty of her lunar light.

Lovers flowing hope we sail together.
In beauty of our trust we both believe.
Sharing moments here to last forever.
Outspoken faith in our love shan't deceive.

On river blue we sail our fine canoe,
To build upon the dream of me and you.

I've Been Awarded...

Although I had promised myself that I would keep this a wordless art blog, my generous friend George from Lost Night's Scribblings has given me an award and I cannot let him down by not posting it. I considered posting it on one of my other blogs, but it just didn't seem to be appropriate. So... without further adieu: Thank you George! I am honored!

Sonnet XIII

source

This morning as I walked along the road,
The winter’s shadow hung about the air;
And casted out its gloom. It was so cold;
But yesterday was spring like and so fair.
A flock of geese I watched the other day,
Perplexed they were as sure as I could tell;
Disoriented like they’d lost their way.
They soared in circles until evening fell.

What have we done to our sweet Mother Earth;
With our excessiveness and sins of greed?
And now that we’ve created this great dearth;
What will we do to rectify our deed?
We must act now before it is too late.
I hope we haven’t sealed our children's fate.

Sonnet XII

Amazing heart that fits mine as a glove,
A smile into my soul is what you draw.
I can't imagine life without your love,
Inspiring me and never taking pause.
You're constantly supportive of my cause,
No matter what my state be right or wrong,
While overlooking all my many flaws.
Inside your soul is right where mine belongs.

Your melody portrays the perfect song.
Each note reflects a moment lost in time;
A synchronistic link between us strong;
Two hearts united by one soul, sublime.
My darling, don't you know that I can't find,
A way to get your smile off of my mind?

Hope for Springtime(Sonnets X & XI)

Though some may think her heart encased in stone,
It's really soft and gentle as a lamb,
It seemed to have become a lifetime plan,
This searching for someone to share its home.
How often she would hate to face the day,
Without a special someone there to hold,
She thought she had it once or twice, but nay,
Her once warm heart had since grown rather cold.

'Til recently she met a special friend,
Who brightens even darkest of her days,
Upon who's loving ear she can depend,
Who listens to her heart along the way.
Although it may not ever come to more,
He'll always be someone that she adores.

***

With kind and gentle words he touched her soul,
Which opened up a door that long was closed.
Her inspiration flowed deeply in prose,
That suddenly her heart could not control.
Upon white parchment filling up each page,
Her words of brilliant beauty poured from pen,
Her glow returned to where it once had been
And wonder in her eyes defied her age.

With shining pools of azure in her mind,
Is often how she wakes in morning bright.
Although she'd hoped, she never thought she'd find,
Someone again who shared her love and light.
Now as we pass from winter's cold and snow,
She hopes that in the springtime love will grow.

Castle in the Sun

Larger View
Purchase Print

There is a place within my dreams,
Where we live out all the scenes,
That only lovers can.
He comes to me with gentle touch,
A touch I find I need so much,
The warmth is in his hands.

He is all I'll ever need,
He gives to me a tiny seed,
To start a garden new.
A garden we will live upon,
And let our loving linger on,
A beauty shared by few.

As with our dreams we are fulfilled,
Beside the garden we will build,
Our castle in the sun.
Never will the bond be broken.
No words needed to be spoken.
Forever we are one.

And it will be a fortress grand,
Protecting those upon it's land,
This castle we will share,
With all of those that we hold dear,
They will come from far and near,
To live upon it's fare.

The garden fountain soon will be,
A place for all to come and see,
The finest in the land.
Toss a penny, make a wish,
And you will find a blessed kiss,
Was placed upon your hand.

There will be a joining now,
The fountain it will tell you how,
To live that dream you feel.
For it is here that dreams come true,
The dreams of love, you never knew,
Could ever be for real.

Forests of the finest wood,
Standing where they've always stood,
For miles everywhere,
We will walk together on,
Together spend a lifetime long,
In love beyond compare.

And we will rule this wonderous land,
As king and queen in strength we'll stand,
Knowing we have won,
Because we took the time to love,
We will be blessed from above,
In our castle in the sun.

Circles

Selfish children with a gift,
Sent from up above.
Blinded by their passion,
Protected by their love.

Everything she wanted,
He gave her in the night.
His eyes told her a story,
That his words could never find.

Whispered words of faith,
She gave him from her heart,
And in a single stolen moment,
A fire began to start.

It was all intense,
And they ran away to hide,
But throughout her life.
She could still feel him by her side.

Round and round in circles,
The intensity so bright.
Baby can the music,
Really take us through the night?

Round and round in circles,
Here we go again.
Once again to places,
That we've already been.

The children have now grown,
But her love and faith remain,
Through all these years she's wondered,
If he feels the same.

And today she vows,
To love him without end.
To stand beside him always,
And never run away again.

From the power of his song,
And the power of her pen,
Round and round and round,
The circle comes again.

Do they have a chance,
To get it right this time?
They've come around again,
And love is laying on the line.

Round and round in circles,
The intensity so bright.
Baby can the music,
Really take us through the night?

Round and round in circles,
Here we go again.
Round and round this time,
To places we have never been...

Round and round and round...
Come on baby,
Dance with me again..?
